Stranger: What does that silly story about the soldier and the queen actually mean?I have no idea! Honest. What is that death he seeks, that others have called a life? What or who is that he slays if not himself, or a part of himself? Why does he now see everything as fire..fire always changes but is the same, is both blue and red.
Perhaps he was already in the 'inner chamber' and did not know it? And when the Queen spoke to him he fell asleep, entering a dream within a dream. And to enter that dreamworld one must die a little, just as the hero must cross a bridge. Are all journeys, then, measured by the shadow of our distance from the centre? We dance around it, are spellbound and magnetized by the north star.
Time is the Space between me and You.
Is beatitude not a moving to an utmost limit, rather than its attainment? What are the needs of strangers?
You ask too many questions!
The Outer Becoming Inner
Sometimes, I could go in anywhere, not
to see the stars, not to be as we
are always, not only under them
but in them.
The outer spaces push against
us.
They become our world. I could go hide
like Adam in his garden.
How would it matter?
No, we are in the stars. Not
for us ever any familiar and definite world.

bs, you write stories and have no idea about their meaning?! and you call my pictures 'indecipherable' :-P
if I were that stranger, I'd ask also: how do you know the queen doesn't long for a kind of death too, as the soldier does? maybe they both long for it and have to die to enter that dreamworld, but in the end they find out that that one common dreamworld doesn't exist and they are caught in different dreams and thus remain strangers forever.
Yes! why, is that a problem? :-)
But we must make the distinction-and distinctions are important, no?- between someone being *deliberately* obtuse/indecipherable and someone simply being innocently clueless.
Oh, who cares about the queen! she is the queen, after all, and will have many suitors.
What a poor end to the story. can't you come up with a better one?! :-)
who cares about the queen?!!!! what a dreadful thing to say :-)
why, do you want a happy end, black one? :-)
Oh, just to test your creativity..like some american scientists I've heard about!
Black, yes. If i were blue..
The Queen? Now there's a word with flexibility, b.
It is an art to write in an obtruse manner, and leaves everthing open ended. Which is fine if you want a story with no conclusion. Meaning can be misread...or not? Perhaps saying what we want to say but are afraid to admit.
I'm of the plain speak school. Only because I value the truth. And not mud.
So, if your purpose is to entertain your readers with riddles and nothing more, than you've been successful. There's nothing risked.
But authors who do this leave no room for back and forth. Because they have no 'forth' to go 'back' to. It's the easy, safe road.
And I believe it's the path between two honest minds that make the most meaningful conversations.
It all depends upon purpose. Means to an end or just 'means'.

fl, hi!
Hmm..not so sure that I agree with you here, fl.
I'm from the old school, the old world that values mud:) , masks, etc.."the muddy centre before we breathed".
On the other hand, there seems to be a mania for "openness", for revealing everything, for confession these days. And I don't believe in such notions as 'always speak the truth'. there is a time and place for everything. And sometimes this can mean not speaking or knowing *how* to speak.
I'm sure this is universal, but to give an example from here: if one disagrees with an elderly person one can still out of respect not pursue the argument too vigorously (respect, kindness etc trumps honesty here). I'm sure the moderns would see this as hypocrisy (and no doubt, it sometimes is)but sometimes it is important to let go (in my opinion).
Best wishes,
b.
Meaning can be misread. Good! It is one way of resisting the analysis and boxing-in that so besets some minds.
the path between two minds or two hearts is rarely so straight or clear.
Hi again b.,
Your posts are giving me something to do at this odd hour. Maybe, I can blather on and bore myself to sleep. :)
Anyhow, about openness. I'm not referring to bluntness, (although it's not always a bad thing) nor am I talking about revealing everthing (because then all mystery is striped bare). But, rather I'm saying I, personally, like to hear peoples viewpoints. I'd say you have no problem expressing your opinion on certain subjects. I'd just like to hear your thoughts on others. What makes b. tick? What keeps you up at night? (I have to smile here) who does b. love? Or does he just love ideas? Those sorts of questions. I only ask so many because I want to draw closer. Not to bring anyone to defense.
We are all complex. Changing, moving. The line isn't always straight between two people. But the straight line the quickest way to conner two hearts. Honesty about important matters.
(auto spell check is such a pain...not 'conner two hearts' but 'join two hearts')
